Maxx Crosby Quietly Pays Off Student Loan Debt for Entire Eastern Michigan Class of 2019
Ypsilanti, Michigan — Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby has made headlines for an act of generosity that reaches far beyond football. The former Eastern Michigan University standout quietly paid off all outstanding student loan balances for members of EMU’s Class of 2019, giving dozens of graduates a clean financial slate.

According to university sources, Crosby personally covered roughly $130,000 in remaining balances for graduates who had yet to finish paying their loans. The effort was handled discreetly through his charitable foundation, with no press release or media fanfare.
Crosby was reportedly moved to act after hearing that a close friend and fellow Eagle from the 2018 team was postponing graduate school due to lingering debt. The story reminded him of how deeply EMU shaped his life and career — and how many doors the university opened for him.
Crosby starred at Eastern Michigan from 2015–2018, emerging as one of the MAC’s most disruptive edge defenders and a leader in the Eagles’ locker room. His relentless motor and playmaking knack helped power EMU’s rise back onto the national radar, setting the stage for his leap to the NFL.
University officials confirmed that representatives for Crosby reached out earlier this year to coordinate the debt-relief process, ensuring every eligible account was paid in full. The school only learned the donor’s identity after the payments had already cleared.
“We were told an anonymous donor had eliminated loan balances for the Class of 2019,” an EMU spokesperson said. “When we discovered it was Maxx, we were profoundly moved by his humility and his ongoing commitment to the Eagle community.”
For many graduates, student debt has long been a barrier to career growth and financial stability. Crosby’s gift not only removes that burden — it also reflects the character and leadership he’s shown since his days in Ypsilanti.
As word spreads, Raiders fans and Eastern Michigan alumni alike are celebrating Crosby not just for his dominance on Sundays, but for his compassion — a captain whose heart for his alma mater is every bit as fierce as his pass rush.
